Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron, and Richland Counties Partnering with SCS to Eliminate Digital Inequity

Sandusky City School families that are interested in securing a computer at no cost will need to complete the Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron, and Richland Counties application and meet the income requirement.

Sandusky City Schools’ is launching a partnership with the Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron and Richland Counties to help eliminate digital inequity. Project Eliminate Digital Inequity is an opportunity that was created through a grant that was obtained by the Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron and Richland Counties to help bolster access to technology for low-income families in all three of the counties they serve. Mrs. Janice Warner, President, Board of Trustees, Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron and Richland Counties stated, “We recognize the significance of leveraging partnerships that aid in our efforts to alleviate poverty and empower low-income communities. In the 21st century, eliminating digital inequity is a huge barrier for low-income families. This partnership will accelerate our efforts to change lives by creating pathways to success for those vulnerable members of our communities.

COVID Vaccine

No School for Erie County Districts March 22, 2021

School teachers and staff from all school districts in Erie County will be offered the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday, February 27, and Sunday, February 28. The vaccines will be administered at a clinic hosted by the Erie County Department of Health, and the more 1,600 school district employees will be scheduled in waves to receive the vaccine throughout the two days. After receiving their vaccines, the school employees will then be given an appointment card for their second doses. The second doses are scheduled to be administered on Saturday, March 20, and Sunday, March 21. Due to reports of short, but severe illness among people who receive the second doses and a concern of staffing shortages on Monday, March 22, the superintendents of all Erie County schools have agreed to schedule a calamity day for that day. All in-person and remote classes for Monday, March 22, will be canceled and the schools closed.
