NSPRA

Sandusky City Schools Marketing Department Receives National Awards

The Sandusky City Schools Marketing and Communications Department received two national awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for district programs, materials, and multiple forms of communications. NSPRA’s 2021 National School Communication Award winners were announced on June 29, 2021. Sandusky City Schools received the award of ‘Excellence’, the highest award possible in Marketing Publications. 

Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards are for outstanding work in educational communications, including print and digital publications, video, audio, websites, social media, and more.

Sandusky Hires Former Graduate as Chief Academic Officer

The Board of Education for the Sandusky City Schools approved a two-year contract today for a Blue Streak to serve as the next Chief Academic Officer. Mrs. Tracy Simmons Reed is a 1984 graduate of Sandusky High School and has served in multiple roles in public school administration. She is a former teacher in Cleveland and served as an Assistant Principal and Principal in Maple Heights City Schools. She has also served as the Chief Academic Officer for the Benton Harbor City Schools in Benton Harbor, Michigan as well as the Chief Academic Officer for the Fort Wayne City Schools in Indiana. CEO and Superintendent, Dr. Eugene T. W. Sanders, noted, “We are so very excited to welcome Mrs. Reed back home and based on her extensive experience, I am confident she will be able to hit the ground running and implement our robust and well aligned academic priorities.”

Summer Food Program - June 7 - August 13, 2021

The Summer Food Program is back! Free Breakfast and Lunches are offered Monday - Friday at several locations throughout the city. This program will run from Monday - June 7 - Friday, August 13, 2021. Each meal bag will include 1 breakfast entrée, 1 lunch entrée, 3 vegetables or fruits, and 2 Toft's milks. Any child 18 and under is eligible. Students do not need to be present to pick up meals.

"Dress for Success" Donation Drop-off

Sandusky City Schools' Gentlemen's Club is looking for donations of ties, bowties, and dress shirts. The goal is to give every male student in grades 7th -12th a tie and/or dress shirt that can be used for future job interviews, banquets, and other formal events. Donations will be collected at the front entrance of Sandusky High School (2130A Hayes Avenue) Sunday, August 22nd from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm and Monday, August 23rd from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
