Sandusky City Schools Board Member and Band Presentation at OSBA Capital Conference

During the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Capital Conference on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Sandusky City Schools Board Member, Mr. Thomas Patterson, was presented with the OSBA President’s gavel, symbolizing his new role as the leader of the organization representing more than 3,500 Ohio school board members. During opening remarks, Mr. Patterson addressed the assembly stating, “I would be remiss if I did not begin the upcoming year by thanking my colleagues, fellow board members, Sandusky City Schools Administration Team, the entire OSBA staff, and my wife, Cindy and family members. It is important to remember that leadership is not about you and me. True leadership comes from giving and sharing your talents with others. It comes with supporting others as they learn and develop their gifts and talents.”

Non-credible Threat

Today, Wednesday, October 30th the district received a threat concerning Sandusky Intermediate School through the AskUs email submission form. Upon receiving this threat, district administration immediately contacted our school resource officers and the Sandusky Police Department to ensure the safety of all and increase security at the building. After an investigation, law enforcement determined that the threat was not credible. Please know that the safety and security of our students and staff are our top priorities. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary precautions. Sandusky City Schools will continue to work closely with local law enforcement agencies and continue to take any threat seriously. Anyone associated with a threat toward our schools will be held accountable by the criminal justice system. If you have any concerns or information regarding this incident, please contact Mr. Rambler at [email protected] or 419.984.1000.

Annual Notification - Senate Bill 29

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to inform you about the new policies related to monitoring school-issued student devices following the passage of Ohio Senate Bill 29 (SB 29). This legislation introduces specific guidelines on how schools can monitor and access these devices, and we want to make sure you are aware of how Sandusky City Schools is complying with these new requirements.

What SB 29 Means for You and Your Child:
Under SB 29, the District or its technology partners are permitted to monitor school-issued devices such as laptops or tablets in order to ensure safety and compliance with school policies. Monitoring may include web activity, and other interactions to prevent potential threats to safety or well-being. This monitoring aligns with educational purposes, including instruction, technical support, exam proctoring, and compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

Ohio School Safety Month and Our Commitment to Student Safety

Hello, Blue Streak Families!

October is Ohio School Safety Month, a time to emphasize the importance of safety in our schools. At Sandusky City Schools, we are dedicated to providing a secure and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.

Throughout the year, we work closely with our community partners, including the Sandusky Police and Fire Departments, to ensure that our safety procedures are updated and will be effective, should an emergency occur.  As a reminder, our schools repeat practice drills at different times of the school year for various emergency situations, such as tornadoes, fires, and lockdowns.  As part of our ongoing safety measures, we conduct periodic safety checks, which may include random searches with the assistance of local law enforcement. We value our partnership with the Sandusky Police and Fire Departments, who are active members of our safety committee and always willing to assist us in keeping our schools safe.

Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all. We believe that by working together as a community, we can continue to provide a high-quality education for our students.
