Work Permits
How can students go about obtaining a work permit under Ohio’s Minor Labor Laws if schools are closed?

According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, if a minor has all necessary paperwork completed and is unable to get the permit processed due to school closure, the completed paperwork may itself stand in the place of the physically printed permit. Employers should keep the paperwork on file, just like they would the permit. The formal permit should be processed as soon as the school is reopened.

As a reminder, hour restrictions outlined in Ohio Revised Code Section 4109 are still in place for any week that was not a pre-planned school holiday (i.e., spring break) and the prohibited/hazardous occupation restrictions are still active.

Sandusky City Schools Instant Connect - New Communication Tool for the District
Hello Blue Streak Family!

We rolled out our new communication tool called Instant Connect on October 21, 2019! This is a change from the One Call Now system we have used previously. This new tool will allow us to send calls and texts to all of our district families. We will now be using this software to notify you in the event of a 2 Hour Delay, Closing, or other important district alert. If you do not receive a notification, please fill out this Google Form so we can make sure your phone number is added. This form can also be found on the Parent page of the district website. (If you have previously filled out a Google Form on the parent page, this is a new form for this new software we are utilizing.)

Additionally, you will be receiving a text message that you can either opt in or opt out from. If you do not receive the text and wish to opt in you can text the word 'YES' to the number 87569 from your device. (Please note that message and data rates may apply according to your plan.)

We appreciate your patience as we make this switch.
