article object Sandusky Rotary Donates $100,000 to the Global Education Center Sandusky City Schools Receive $100,000 from the Sandusky Rotary Club for Global Education Center at the Intermediate School
On Thursday, October 25th, 2018, a special presentation was held at the Administration Building, where Sandusky City Schools received a donation from the Sandusky Rotary Club. 2019 will mark Sandusky Rotary’s 100th year of service to our community and also commemorates this milestone. The Past Presidents of Sandusky Rotary Centennial Project Committee was charged with finding a project that would help serve the Sandusky community for the next 100 years. After many recommendations and careful consideration, the Centennial Committee and the Sandusky Rotary Board decided that Sandusky City Schools’ forthcoming Global Education Center met that criteria. The Sandusky Rotary Global Education Scholarship fund will receive $25,000.00 of the $100,000.00 donation. The Sandusky Rotary and Rotary International will be a part of this community for many generations to come.

The newly named Sandusky Rotary Global Education Center will be a state-of-the-art technology center that will complement the district’s award-winning and innovative Global Internship Program. The Sandusky Rotary Global Education Center will be a full-service 21st century computer and technology center which will allow students in grades 3-6 and 7-12 to utilize the center for technology-based programs associated with the district’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiatives. The technology component of STEAM will allow Sandusky City Schools’ students to be exposed to the latest educational learning tools which will enable them to compete in a competitive global environment as it relates to technology. Additionally, district teachers will be able to utilize the Sandusky Rotary Global Education Center for professional development and training. Students taking college courses through Blue Streak University will also be able to utilize this space to expand course offerings, which will help continue to reduce college costs for our parents.
