Perkins Ave. Construction Impact Update

Sandusky City Schools and the City of Sandusky have come together to review the Perkins Ave. construction and how it will impact the first month of the school year. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this construction process.

Overview of Impact

  • Perkins Ave. Westbound traffic will remain closed between Hayes Ave. and Campbell St. through the month of September 2023.

    • This is due to extended time needed to address water lines, weather, etc.

  • Safe Routes to School efforts

    • Crosswalks have been added to Campbell St.

    • School Zone flashers are in the process of being installed in multiple locations on Hayes Ave.

    • Additional pedestrian crosswalk signals have been added to Hayes Ave.

  • Drivers will no longer be able to park on the northside of Buchanan St. near the Sandusky Intermediate School Front Entrance and Firelands South Campus to allow safer travel for all drivers and walkers.

  • Signs will be placed indicating no left turn off of Buchanan St. onto Hayes Ave. and Campbell St. during peak school hour times. This is an effort to make these intersections safer and more efficient.

  • Reminder - No parking or parent drop-off/pick-up in the Tractor Supply Co. (TSC) complex parking lot. This lot is for TSC customers only.
