Dear Blue Streak Family,I would like to address a few items as we move into the 24-25 school year. It is crucial that we work together to overcome any challenge we face, and our goal is to unite as a community to support our students, staff, and families in achieving their full potential. Continuing to look for divisions will only distract us from our core goals which are centered on our students. I encourage each of you to focus on finding solutions that will positively impact our students, families, staff, and community. We cannot be derailed from our focus on our students’ growth and achievement.I also want to reaffirm our commitment to clarity, fairness, and unity within our district. We acknowledge that recent missteps have caused concern among staff and our community members, and I want to extend my heartfelt apologies for the frustration this may have caused. The district has taken time to listen to our community, staff members, and constituents. This time has been used to review our processes and find areas of improvement. We are thankful for the encouragement of so many throughout our community and district as we identify areas to improve. At Sandusky City Schools, we strive to maintain high standards in every aspect of our district operations, including our hiring practices. We understand that trust is essential in fostering a strong relationship between our district and the community we serve. Moving forward, we are dedicated to taking proactive measures to ensure that our processes are not only efficient but also reflect our values of inclusivity and accountability. We have identified areas we must improve. We are implementing several changes to ensure a more rigorous and equitable hiring process and positively impact these key areas: 1. Utilization of an electronic form throughout the interview process 2. Efficient and automated scoring 3. Community representation on interview teams 4. Eliminate pre-screening for current employees 5. Pre-screening for minimum qualifications of candidatesThese changes are designed to uphold the integrity of our hiring process, to build trust within our community, and to ensure strong candidates who will positively impact our students. We are committed to learning from this experience and continuously improving our procedures to better serve the needs of Sandusky Schools and all individuals within our community. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to implement these improvements. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.Sincerely,Daniel Rambler, CEO & Superintendent
