Mr. William (Shawn) Coakley, Athletics and Activities Director has officially announced his retirement,effective July 2, 2024. Mr. Coakley stated, “After much thought and consideration, my wife and I have made the decisionto retire. I want to thank the board and administration for giving me the opportunity to serve the students, staff, andSandusky community as the District Athletic & Activities Director at Sandusky City Schools. I am appreciative of myexperiences and the people I have met during my tenure here. The support our community gives to the programs andstudents is truly special. It has been a privilege and pleasure to work with so many wonderful individuals and families. GoStreaks!” Mr. Coakley has worked for the district for 12 years and has played a pivotal role in shaping the student-athletesin the district. Any sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in exploring their career options in the U.S. Military are encouraged to sign up to take the ASVAB Career Exploration Assessment. The ASVAB will be offered at 9 am on Friday, March 15, in Room 300/301.Although the assessment can be used for military service, students are not required to sign up for military service. The assessment is offered to help students gauge their potential to perform well in various careers. Any student interested in taking the ASVAB is asked to contact Dr. Richard Koonce, the college and career readiness advisor/coach, at [email protected] or by phone at 419-984-1085.

A College Credit Plus Night will be offered from 6-7 pm on Thursday, March 21, in Room 300. This session is for parents with children in grades 7-11 who are interested in being admitted to the CCP program. Students who are not yet in high school must qualify for the CCP program by taking the Accuplacer exam.If interested, middle school students are encouraged to call 419-372-0886 to schedule the Accuplacer Reading exam. High school students with less than a 3.0 GPA also must schedule an appointment to take the Accuplacer Reading exam. High school students with at least a 3.0 GPA or higher are admitted into the CCP program once they have completed the online application to BGSU Firelands at bgsu.edu/firelands/apply and their transcripts are sent to the college.Anyone with questions should call Dr. Richard Koonce, the college and career readiness advisor/coach at 419-984-1085 for more information.
