Dan Poggiali is a native of Sandusky. He is a 1971 graduate of Sandusky High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and a Master's Degree from Ashland University. Before becoming principal, he taught for Sandusky City Schools as a social studies teacher for 26 years at both Sandusky High School and Adams Junior High where he also coached football. Dan lives in Sandusky with his wife Liz, daughter Jennifer, and son Lucas.

Ms. Susan Sackett was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. She received her undergraduate degree in education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her both her Masters' Degree and Administrative Licensure from Bowling Green State University. She taught English at Sandusky High School for four years before beginning her Administrative career in the Athletic Department.

Vicki Slaughter was born and raised in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1975, Ms. Slaughter graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. degree in Education and then received her Masters in Education & Administration from Ashland University. Ms. Slaughter taught business classes at Sandusky High School before leaving in 2004 to be the Assistant Principal at Fremont Ross High School. Ms. Slaughter lives in Sandusky with her son.

Sandusky High School Mission Statement

The faculty, staff, and administration of Sandusky High School recognize that all children will learn. We will strive to graduate students who are productive, responsible members of society.

Goals:
1. To improve student performance on Achievement and Proficiency tests.
2. To improve our attendance rate, completion rate, and dropout rate.
3. To promote parental and community support to develop students into responsible citizens and to achieve higher levels of academic performance.
4. To enhance staff development to create an awareness of changing methods and materials in education.
5. To increase the use of technology by students and staff.
6. To promote ethnic tolerance and cultural harmony through an improved school environment.

Educational Objectives

Without attempting to rank the importance of any objectives, it shall be the purpose of Sandusky High School, in so far as possible, to develop persons who:

• can function in our changing multi-cultural, multi-racial society through the use of increased communication.
• can think and reason quantitatively as well as understand the scientific phenomena which affect them.
• can retain individuality while living harmoniously with others.
• can make a living with training received here or after
subsequent study.
• can accept and deal with personal problems and
attempt their solution.
• can recognize and accept their potential and limitations
while enhancing their own self value.
• can care for their health and understand the relationship of their physical and mental well being to success and happiness.
• can manage personal finances and have an understanding of the larger economic conditions which affect them.
• will be better prepared for wholesome choices in the use of leisure time through certain interests and skills acquired here while developing the motivation and desire to continue learning as a lifelong process.
• can assume responsible citizenship in our democratic society because the entire range of school activities has encouraged in them such qualities as intellectual independence, social responsibility, self-discipline, and respect for the rights of others.
• will preserve and appreciate the beauty of their natural surroundings and of the aesthetic creations of mankind.
• will leave with a positive feeling about their experiences at Sandusky High School.

Philosophy

Sandusky High School reflects the standards, desires, and concerns of the diversified community it supports. As one of the primary assets of the community, it provides learning opportunities and methods of attaining stability for all people within the community.

The curriculum meets the current and changing needs of students entering the labor market, post high school training facilities, the military, or homemaking. Sandusky High School trains students to have useful knowledge for immediate academic and vocational needs as well as to be flexible enough to adapt to changes the future is sure to bring.

The school provides a stable environment in which students can cultivate character commensurate with American ideals essential for success and happiness. It fosters intellectual, social, moral, cultural, and physical growth. It provides opportunities to develop skills and knowledge enabling students to be happy, productive, responsible, and loyal citizens in our democracy. To this end, Sandusky High helps students achieve self understanding and self-esteem as well as an understanding and acceptance of others.

Finally, Sandusky High School educational programs and all activities are provided without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.
