Registration & Enrollment
Students Entering Grades K - 6th
Registration for students in grades K-6 is processed at the Administration Building, located at 407 Decatur Street, Sandusky, OH. Registration can be completed between the hours of 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Documents required to bring to registration are as follows:
  • Original Birth Certificate,
  • Immunization Records
  • Parent/Guardian Proof of Residency
  • Parent/Guardian Photo ID
  • Custody/Legal Documents
  • IEP or MFE
  • Previous School Information
(Copies of all required documentation will be made at the Administration Building and originals returned to the parent/guardian at the time of registration).

We encourage parents to begin the registration process even if they are missing documents. A 30 day grace period will be granted to bring the missing documents to the elementary building were the student will attend.

School Supply List K-6, Campus Wear Policy K-6 and a Sandusky City Schools Calendar will be available during registration.

Note: During the months of June, July and August, registration for K-6 is processed at the Administration Building during the time of 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

If your child is eligible for Kindergarten (5 years old before September 30), please pick up a registration packet at any Sandusky elementary building or the Board of Education. After completing the paperwork, please call 419-626-6940 to make an appointment to enroll your child. Appointments will last approximately 10 minutes. Please schedule your appointment early. We are looking forward to your child becoming an official “Blue Streak”! 
 
Students Entering Grades 7th - 12th
Sandusky Middle School (Grades 7-8) and Sandusky High School (Grades 9-12) require the following documentation for registration:
  • Social Security Card
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • Parent/Guardian Proof of Residency
  • Parent/Guardian Photo ID
  • Custody/Legal Documents
  • IEP or MFE
  • Previous School Information
Parents and guardians are encouraged to pickup a registration packet from the building office and make an appointment to meet with the counselor. During summer months, feel free to leave a phone message and a counselor will return the call when she returns to work in August. A counselor will meet with parents and students to help select courses and design a solid educational plan.

McKinney-Vento Act
If your Family lives in any of the following situations:
 
- In a Shelter
- In a motel or campground due to lack of an alternative adequate accommodation
- In a car, park, abandoned building, or bus or train station
- Doubled up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship
 
Your school-age children may qualify for certain rights and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Act.
 
Your eligible children have the right to: 
- Receive a free, appropriate public education
- Enroll in school immediately, even if lacking documents normally required for enrollment
- Enroll in school and attend classes while the school gathers needed documents
- Enroll in the local school; or continue attending their school of origin (the school they attended when permanently housed or the school in which they were last enrolled), if that is your preference and is feasible
      *If the school district believes that the school you select is not in the best interest of your           children, then the district must provide you with a written explanation of its position and           inform you of your right to appeal its decision.
- Receive transportation to and from the school of origin, if you request this
- Receive educational services comparable to those provided to other students according to your children's needs.
 
If you believe your children may be eligible, contact the local liaison to find out what services and supports may be available. There also may be supports available for your preschool-age children.
