At Ontario Elementary School we are proud of our successes and will continue to set high expectations. Students are working individually, in small groups, and as a classroom team to master their curriculum. We are aware of each child’s ability and are differentiating instruction to meet their individual needs through small groups during both intervention and classroom instruction. We are using all of our resources to best equip our students with skills for the 21stcentury.
Teachers are studying and tracking data that will help them serve each child’s needs. We are meeting monthly to look at data and to use it to make instructional decisions that will benefit our students and drive our instruction. Teachers will also be working together to improve their skills this year. They will be researching and discussing two topics; teaching higher order thinking skills and providing opportunities for response.
As the instructional leader atOntario, I will be observing classrooms, asking questions, and showcasing some of the awesome teacher and student work I see. I will be in grade level teacher meetings to help teachers drill into their data and discuss what needs to be taught or reviewed, and what that will look like in their classrooms. I will also attend meetings for individual students to be a support and an advocate for students and staff.
I enjoy the support of my staff as we continue to strive to keep a safe, bully free environment through use of our “Bucket Filler’s” program. Our goal is to focus on learning and creating a friendly, welcoming, successful experience for our students and their families.
