Fire/EMS Instructor
Fire/EMS Instructor is a 70-hour course for experienced Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics to gain Ohio Division of EMS credentials to provide fire and EMS education in chartered, accredited and approved training programs.  The course includes the following components: 
  • Adult Education Theory and Techniques (52 hours)
  • Fire and/or EMS Objectives Study (8 hours per discipline)
  • Observed Teaching (10 hours)
Candidates must meet all prerequisites prior to enrolling in the course.  Prerequisites include: 
  • Ohio Fire and/orEMScertification for at least five (5) of the previous seven (7) years
  • Fire and/or EMS Knowledge Exam*
  • Fire and/or EMS Practical Exam
*Fire Instructor Knowledge exams are scheduled on an as-needed basis and held at Sandusky Career Center.  EMS Instructor candidates complete knowledge exams through the National Registry of EMTs.  Information on the testing process is available here.
