2010 Ohio STEM Champions

Under the leadership of their teacher, Mr. Dan Langdon, three SHS students became the "Champions" at the eTech STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Challenge Robotics Competition in Columbus, Ohio.  Kyle Ramsey, Anthony Simmons and David Bupe comprised this first place team. Their team, along with 9 other high school teams, was challenged to design and create a robot utilizing the parts and pieces provided in their Vex Robotics System kits. The robot had to be capable of moving balls to their opponent's side of the court. Points were earned and accumulated based on the number and size of balls transferred.  For one minute, the robot had to be programmed to do this task independently. Additionally, the team had to remotely control the robot in several rounds of 3 minute head-to-head competitions against their opponents' robots. Our SHS team chalked up 138 points to win the 2010 competition!

Taylor Hill, a student at Adams Junior High School, attended the People to People World Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., September 7-12, 2009. She studied leadership and explored some of the United States' most prominent monuments and institutions, from Capitol Hill to the Smithsonian Institution, and from Gettysburg National Military Park to the International Spy Museum.
