Parent Mini Workshop Series "Family Educational Activities"
Join the NAACP in their Parent Mini Workshop Series this Saturday May 23rd!  The topic will be on "Family Educational Activities".  This free program will be presented by Roz Shepard and Jennifer Ashburn from 10-11:30am at Grace Episcopal Church.  A continental breakfast will be provided.  Future workshop dates are: June 20th, July 25, and August 22 at 10-11:30am.  For more information or questions, please contact Thanda Maceo at tbmaceo@msn.com

Recap of Award Winners from Awards Night
Sandusky High School’s 36th Annual Achievement Awards program filled the SHS auditorium with students, parents, educators and members of the community. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors were recognized for their outstanding academic performances. In addition, students were recognized for their accomplishments in art, music, theatre, athletics, attendance, career tech, leadership, and community service. The greater part of the evening showcased members of the senior class, during which time numerous local scholarships were presented. This year, exceptional SHS seniors accepted nearly $350,000 in community-based merit scholarships! The cusp of the ceremony was dedicated to the presentation of the esteemed Captain Dan Thomas Award and the school’s two most prestigious honors - The Stauffer and Malinovsky Awards. PRIDE Academy's Coupling Camping Trip
Since the end of August, PRIDE Academy students have Volunteered at the Erie County Metro Parks with over 50 documented hours each and have accumulated a total of more than 450 hours as a class to earn at no cost a 2 1/2 day camping trip to the Erie Metro Parks Coupling Reserve in Milan, Ohio.

At the Coupling and as part of their PBL, PRIDE students planned activities with Erie Metro Park's staff to include a nature hike, bird watching lessons, and lessons in Archery. PRIDE Students also planned meals to cook for the time spent there, and took turns in groups completing housekeeping chores.

See "Follow the Drinking Gourd" Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2015 at 1:30 pm. A special presentation in coordination with the Sandusky Maritime Museum’s, “Liberty Lived Underground: Historical Lessons from Civil War Times.” Learn what part stars played in helping slaves to escape to freedom, and who helped them.
