Hancock Elementary Second Graders Say Thanks to Veterans
For the November PBL Project and for Veteran's Day, the 2nd grade students at Hancock Elementary made candy grams and letters to thank the many veterans housed at the Veteran's Home on Route 250. The students have many more exciting activities planned in the upcoming months focused on giving back to the community. We are hoping our students will see the importance of giving back to the community they are living in and show how important it is to be thankful and respectful of those citizens who help us.
Waiver Days
The final Waiver Days this school year are: November 23 & 24. There will be no school for students on these days.
Hancock Elementary Second Graders Learn about Community Service with Project-Based Learning

The second graders in Mrs. Ott and Mrs. Stephens' homerooms at Hancock Elementary School are excited about their PBL projects this year (Project-Based Learning). The teachers and students in these classrooms have been actively engaged in their projects this school year with the focus of Community Service and the topic of “Showing We Care.” The driving question for this project was: “What are various ways students of any age can provide help and support for people in our community that serve as civil service workers and volunteers?”

The students worked on a project that focused on the Firemen in the Sandusky Community during fire prevention month in October. The 2nd graders made cards and a basket of sweet treats to personally present to the firemen as a means to recognize and thank them for their service.
